Want to Write, Publish, and Sell a Book? Zoom Mentorship with Author Jonathan David

Writing a book is one part of the journey. Editing, formatting, cover design, publishing, audiobooks, and finding readers bring their own decisions. My Zoom mentorship offers a focused conversation about your goals and the practical steps involved in moving your project forward.

Learn about my mentorship approach and the questions we can discuss. Watch directly on YouTube.

Start with What You Want to Accomplish

Do you want to publish one book, build a continuing series, or develop an independent author business? Those goals call for different plans.

I am Author Jonathan David. My mentorship draws on my experience writing and selling books, producing digital content, running independent businesses, and spending approximately 15 years tutoring and mentoring students.

In our conversation, we begin with your objective, your current progress, and the questions that are keeping you from taking the next step. From there, we can work toward a practical direction that fits your project.

Book Writing and Publishing Topics We Can Discuss

You may be planning your first manuscript, preparing a finished draft, or reconsidering how you sell an existing book. Sessions can address questions such as:

  • Writing direction: What kind of book are you creating, and who do you want to reach?
  • Author identity: Should you publish under your own name or use a pen name?
  • Manuscript preparation: How will you organize, format, and prepare your work for publication?
  • Editing: What needs attention, and how can you plan a manageable revision process?
  • Cover design: What assets will you need for an eBook, paperback, hardcover, or audiobook?
  • Publishing choices: Which distribution and sales options fit your goals?
  • Audiobook production: Will you narrate the book yourself or explore working with a narrator?
  • Marketing: How will readers discover your work, and where will you direct their interest?

When useful, I can screen share and demonstrate parts of my workflow. The discussion is shaped around your questions rather than a fixed lecture for every client.

Think About the Business Before Choosing a Platform

In the video, I discuss lessons from my own experiences with publishing platforms, social media, and direct sales. My emphasis is on understanding how your work will reach readers and how the arrangement supports your business.

Before committing to a service, consider its fees, payment schedule, distribution terms, exclusivity requirements, and options for exporting your content. Read the current agreement so your decisions are based on the terms that apply to you.

We can discuss the practical tradeoffs between marketplace listings, your own website, memberships, in-person sales, and other ways of delivering your work. The right combination depends on your audience, resources, and goals.

Build a Marketing Plan You Can Maintain

Trying to use every social platform and publishing outlet can leave little time for the work you intended to create. I encourage a focused approach: identify the audience, choose manageable channels, and give people a clear way to purchase or support your work.

Useful questions include:

  • Are you promoting a single title or a growing catalog?
  • How much time can you consistently spend on marketing?
  • Which formats help readers understand what you offer?
  • What costs are involved in producing and delivering the product?
  • How will you measure progress and decide what to adjust?

A large audience and a sustainable business are different measures of progress. Our conversation can help you clarify which results matter for your project. Sales, reach, and publishing outcomes are not guaranteed.

One-on-One Zoom Mentorship

Private sessions provide time to discuss your project directly with me. You explain what you are working toward, I ask questions to understand your situation, and we work through the decisions you want help considering.

In the video, I describe monthly options with one or two hours of private session time. Some people want an initial planning conversation; others prefer a recurring check-in as they carry out their work.

Pricing reflects my available time and capacity. Review the current membership listing for session length, scheduling, billing, cancellation, and refund terms before signing up.

Monthly Group Zoom Questions and Answers

I also discuss a monthly group Zoom option, with sessions planned to run approximately two to four hours. A group setting gives participants an opportunity to ask questions and hear discussions that may be relevant to their own projects.

Topics may include writing, publishing, independent business, online products, and college study experiences. Check the current package description for the schedule and what is included.

Mentorship for Online Products and Small Businesses

The conversation does not have to begin with a novel. If you make handcrafted products, digital resources, or other items you want to sell online, we can discuss how to present them and create a practical path from discovery to purchase.

I share what I have learned through my own projects, including product presentation, websites, content planning, and balancing production time with marketing. You remain responsible for your decisions and the work involved in carrying them out.

College Mentorship and Study Planning

For adults returning to college, I can also share experiences from studying mathematics and working with STEM students. These conversations focus on planning, study routines, understanding course expectations, and navigating textbooks and syllabi.

I do not complete homework, exams, or quizzes for you. The purpose is to help you develop a direction for your own work while following your institution’s academic policies.

Bring Your Questions. Clarify Your Direction.
